Winnipeg, MB – The Living Prairie Museum is seeking volunteers to help collect native seeds in some of Winnipeg’s prairie habitats.
Volunteers will learn about the museum’s efforts to conserve the genetic diversity of prairie landscapes, as well as sustainable harvesting practices. Volunteers will also be able to keep some of the seeds they collect.
Volunteers can register to harvest native seeds throughout the city on the following days:
- September 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m at Little Mountain Park
- September 18 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Living Prairie Museum’s seed plots in St. Norbert
- September 25 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Living Prairie Museum’s seed plots in St. Norbert
- September 26 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Living Prairie Museum
Those interested in volunteering must register by contacting the Living Prairie Museum at 204-832-0167. The location of the seed plots will be provided upon registration.
