CONSTRUCTION NOTICE on WAVERLEY STREET

Waverley Street between Grandmont Boulevard and the south city limit has been selected for a two-year construction project. This year’s construction is anticipated to begin the week of July 29, 2019 and, weather permitting, continue until late October 2019.

Construction includes: reconstructing the road and approaches; re-grading the ditches; replacing culverts; and applying a chip seal surface. These improvements will enhance the safety, rideability and drainage of the road, and eliminate the need for regular grading and application of dust control chemicals. Project construction has been broken into three stages as follows:

2019 Construction Season
Stage 1 – Grandmont Boulevard to Rue des Trappistes
Waverley Street between Grandmont and Rue des Trappistes will be fully closed to traffic. Access to individual properties within the closed section will be accommodated. Access to portions of Waverley Street south of the closure will be via Rue des Trappistes.
Stage 2 – Rue des Trappistes to the Waverley Slo-Pitch Complex
Waverley Street from Rue des Trappistes to 3900 waverley will be partially closed to traffic. A temporary one-lane road will be constructed on the east side of the street. The road will operate as a one-way southbound local access road to provide access to residences and businesses. No through traffic will be permitted. Northbound traffic will also not be permitted. Additional access to portions of Waverley Street south of the closure will be via Marchand Road.

2020 Construction Season
Stage 3 – 3900 Waverley Street (Waverley Slo-Pitch Complex) to the South City Limit
Waverley Street from the complex to the south city limit will be partially closed to traffic. A temporary one-lane road will be constructed on the east side of the street. The road will operate as a one-way southbound local access road to provide access to residences and businesses. Through traffic will not be permitted. Northbound traffic will also not be permitted. Additional access to portions of Waverley Street south of Stage 3 will be via Marchand Road. Final restorations, ditching, and chip sealing will be completed at the end of Stage 3. Maintenance of the existing roadway and dust abatement treatment will be provided until the roadway chip seal surface is in place.Elimination of through traffic in Stages 2 and 3 will help ensure a safe work environment and room for construction equipment. Temporary closures of individual approaches may be necessary for repair work. We will contact you directly if this is required. Emergency access will be maintained throughout the duration of the project. Garbage & Recycling will continue to be picked up at its regular time and location. We appreciate that this project will cause inconveniences for you and ask you to be patient. We are attempting to minimize disruptions as much as possible.
